Clubs

Clubs provide students with similar interests and goals an opportunity to meet and work together. Review the list below for clubs and organizations of interest.

  • Band
  • Battle of the Books - This club is open to all students at JHMS who like to read books and compete. The Battle of the Books competition is held in May.
  • Beta Club - This is a service club for honor roll students in the seventh and eighth grades. Students are invited to be a member of the club based on the national qualifications for membership.
  • Cheerleading - This club will require members to perform at all home Volleyball games during the 1st semester.
  • Chess Club - Everyone Can Join! Our Goal is to have fun playing chess and challenging ourselves to learn this unique game! Anyone is welcome to join the club, whether you are a complete beginner or have had years of experience. Please visit Mr. Smith in Room 05-020 or conctact him through email at smithzz@scps.k12.fl.us.

  • Green Team - Focuses on environmental initiatives and education. Participates in school garden, Native Plant Society, and UCF’s Living Shoreline Project.

  • Odyssey of the Mind - This is a creative problem solving activity open to all students at JHMS.

  • Robotics - This club is geared to helping young men and women enhance their robotics skills and become excited about technology and science through the use of the new EV3 LEGO robots. The students work to program autonomous robots to score points on a thematic playing surface, creating an innovative solution to a problem as part of their project, all while being guided by the First LEGO League Core Values.

  • Student Ambassadors - Members serve as the welcome committee for JHMS and work as a buddy for any student in need of friendship or support. 
  • Student Council - Student Council is an active group of students who take part in the planning and implementation of projects events, and community activities.
